Temple of God
Website
Know ye not that YE
ARE the temple of God, and that
THE SPIRIT OF GOD dwelleth in you? (1
Corintihians
3:16)
This
website is for those
who are interested in deeper discussions of what
the LDS Temple endowment means. This site also
includes
discussions
of other symbols and allegories common to LDS/Mormon
experience.
Material on this
website is shared in a spirit of open discussion and open
investigation. It is provided as a service to the
community by a
former LDS Temple veil-worker who has long been interested in
the deeper
meanings behind the temple endowment experience.
None of what
is found on this website should be considered to be
statement(s) of doctrine, approved
by church leaders (mainstream or fundamentalist), or
definitive examinations of the topics discussed.
The motto of this website (1
Cor 3:16)
refers to a simple prospect of looking at the meaning of
Temple in
newer
ways. The Temple is popularly viewed as a building
constructed by men rather than the individual (being;
person).
And even when individuals start to consider that each person
is the
true Temple, there is a tendency to think of it as being the
body. It may
be that most of us aim too low on both counts.
Some visitors to this website may become personally offended
at what
appears to be open discussion on a prohibited topic. It is
suggested
that this
feeling, in itself, might be revealing. It may be
helpful to
consider that the notion of secrecy (or sacredness) in regard
to
discussing the meaning of the endowment experience is widely
misunderstood.
